Applicable time limits are subject to submission of correct and complete information based on applicable government regulations and guidelines.

Acknowledgement of receipt of an application by CA or NEC

Review by NEC or CA to assess adequacy of information in line with the norms, guideline, Act and Regulation

CA forward applications to NEC for non-listed projects and listed projects if it falls under section 17 of the regulation

Within 15 days

Screening to determine the level of EA required

1 to 3 months

If EA is required, the level and timeframe for the assessment will be determined through negotiations between relevant parties and approved by the NEC or CA

Time frame to be negotiated

Decision/response on the EC based on the findings of the EA report

1 to 3 months

Public notification on decision by the NEC or CA

Within 15 days

Appeal on the decision

Within 30 days from the date of notification

On approval of the clearance, a legal undertaking with the applicant to comply with the EA Act, 2000

10 days to 1 month
