On 31st March, 2019, the NECS with the support from Penden Cement Authority Limited (PCAL) distributed more than 3000 cloth bags to the customers and vendors at the Centenary Farmer’s Market (CFM). Distribution of cloth bags was a part of the many sensitization programs carried out to reach the general public before enforcing the reinforcement of limited plastic ban notification 1999 on carry bags, doma wrappers and homemade ice-cream pouches.
The team interacted and had conversation with more than 3000 customers and vendors at CFM creating awareness. The team consists of officials from NECS, PCAL Thimphu Thromde, the Royal Bhutan Police and the Centenary Farmer’s Market.
In response to the earlier awareness programs, many customers were spotted bringing their own carry bags and all the vendors in CFM were well aware about the Reinforcement of Limited Ban.
