The National Environment Commission Secretariat has started the first regional consultation workshop on the revision of the national environment strategy. The workshop is being held for five dzongkhags (Thimphu, Chhuka, Paro,Haa and Samtse) from 28-31 Jan 2019 to consult, discuss and to seek inputs from five dzongkhags to the revision of The National Environment Strategy, “The Middle Path,” which was first developed in 1998. The participants are Dzongkhag Thrizin, Deputy Thrizin, Planning Officers, Environment Officers including participants from RCSC and NGO.
Similar regional consultations will be held to cover all the twenty dzongkhags.
Besides, consultation on strategy, presentations were made on NEC and NECS along with powers, mandates of Commission and Secretariat including roles and responsibilities of all the divisions and services. Also, awareness and capacity building on mainstreaming environment and climate change in policies and plans was conducted.
