The Water Resources Coordination Division conducted the Final Water Flagship Program (WFP) Workshop from June 11-14, 2019 at Paro. The workshop consisted of 29 participants including officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Works and Human Settlements, Gross National Happiness Commission and Thromde officials.
The workshop was aimed at highlighting the findings from the field assessment that was conducted from March to June, 2019 for the proposed WFP activities of the Dzongkhags and Thromdes. The team members presented on the consultations and field assessment of their respective assigned areas, focusing on the issues raised and the activities specified as critical. This exercise allowed for finalization of the activities, with many being reworked or removed as seen necessary. The finalized activities will now be incorporated in the blueprint.
The participants further discussed on the Annual Performance Agreement for the Program, the financial modality and activities proposal for the Fiscal Year 2019-2020, the implementation modality, monitoring and evaluation matrix and components with no budget estimates – all of which are already a part of the WFP blueprint. The workshop also discussed on the way forward for the WFP including field assessment for the second phase Dzongkhags, inclusion of irrigation activities, possibility of Public Private Partnership and Water Agency.
