The Water Resources Coordination Division conducted the Water Flagship Program (WFP) – Project Implementation Unit Workshop from August 6-8, 2019. The participants included the Engineers, Environment Officers and Planning Officers of Chukha, Dagana, Mongar, Paro, Pema Gatshel, Samdrup Jongkhar, Samtse, Trashigang, Trongsa, Wangdue, Zhemgang, Gelephu Thromde, Phuntsholing Thromde, Samdrup Jongkhar Thromde and Thimphu Thromde along with officers from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, Ministry of Works and Human Settlements and the Gross National Happiness Commission Secretariat.
The workshop was held to sensitize the Dzongkhag and Thromde officers on the WFP blueprint titled “Access to 24X7 Safe Drinking Water with Irrigation”, the Program Implementation Manual, the WFP Annual Performance Agreement for 2019-2020, and irrigation components.
During the workshop, the officers prepared and presented the work plan for the WFP activities under their respective administrations. The human resource requirements for implementation of the WFP were also assessed and discussed. The workshop was held to sensitize and consult with the Dzongkhag and Thromde officers on the WFP as they will now play a key role in ensuring adequate program implementation.
